- Andrew Feldman
Dr. Andrew Feldman has re-joined Accel Research Sites as a Principle Investigator, after an earlier affiliation in the same role. He has practiced family medicine for more than 30 years, and brings more than 15 years of experience in clinical research. Locally, Dr. Feldman has worked as a family physician at Advanced Family Medicine, and Associates in Medicine. Dr. Feldman’s therapeutic specialty areas include cardiovascular and endocrine (hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease) as well as indications related to the central nervous system (depression and anxiety, attention deficit disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). Early in his career, Dr. Feldman served in the Unites States Army, earning the rank of major. While in the army, he served as administrator of troop medical clinics and as interim chief of department of family medicine and emergency medicine. In 2014, Dr. Feldman was the recipient of the UnitedHealthcare Outstanding Achievement Award. Dr. Feldman earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA, and a bachelor of science degree in biology from Muhlenberg College, in Allentown, PA.
- Bruce G. Rankin
DO, FACOFP, MRO, CPI
Dr. Bruce Rankin serves as Medical Director for Avail Clinical Research. In this role, a position which he has held since 1998, Dr. Rankin oversees clinical studies across a diverse range of therapeutic areas, and is responsible for ensuring all clinical trials meet the highest standards of research integrity and ethical conduct. Dr. Rankin has served as Chief of Staff at Florida Hospital Deland, and was a physician advisor at West Volusia Hospital Authority. Dr. Rankin has served as Medical Director of the West Volusia Chapter of the American Cancer Society and is past president of the Florida Society of Family Medicine. In addition, he has managed a private practice in family medicine for thirty years. Dr. Rankin is a board-certified physician investigator, and is board-certified from the American College of Family Practitioners in Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery. He is a Diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Rankin received his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine. He earned a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from the University of Florida.
- John M. Hill
John Hill has served as a principle investigator since 2005, specializing in a diverse range of indications spanning diabetes, HTN, dementia and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Since 2009, He has worked as a physician at West Volusia Family and Sports Medicine. Previously, he served as a team physician for Stetson University and University High School in Deland, FL. He is board-certified by The American Board of Family Medicine, and earned certification as a principle investigator in 2009. In addition, he is a certified respiratory therapist. Dr. Hill earned his medical degree from Ross university in New York city, and a bachelor of science degree from the University of Central Florida. He completed the Southwest Georgia Family Medicine residency program in Albany, GA. Outside of his medical activities, Dr. Hill serves on the Volusia county school board.
- Jeffrey Reinertsen
Dr. Jeff Reinertsen is a pediatrician with more than 25 years of experience in private practice at West Volusia Pediatrics. Since 2007, Dr. Reinertsen has also served as Assistant Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine at the Daytona Beach campus. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Reinertsen received his doctor of medicine and undergraduate degrees at the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida and completed his pediatric residency at Tampa General Hospital.
- Michael Bell
Dr. Michael Bell is a pediatrician with 35 years of experience in private practice at West Volusia Pediatrics. Since 2007, Dr. Bell has held the position of Assistant Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine. He is board-certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and is a reviewer for the State of Florida Board of Medicine. Active in child protection services, Dr. Bell has served as Medical Director for Children's Medical Services District XII since 1992, and Medical Director for the Child Protection Team of Volusia and Flagler County since 1987. For the past 20 years, Dr. Bell has served as a member of the section on Child Abuse and Neglect within the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition, he is a Pediatric Clerkship Director for Florida State University at the Daytona Beach Campus. Dr. Bell earned medical and bachelor of science degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he also completed his residency.
- Melanie Vandemark
MD, FAAFP, CPI
Dr. Melanie VanDemark is Vice President of Medical Affairs for Accel Research Sites, providing medical oversight and supervision of the research teams who conduct Phase I - IV clinical studies. Since 2009, Dr. VanDemark has overseen clinical studies as a principal investigator in a wide variety of indications, including women’s’ health, obesity and neurology indications for the past six years. Most recently, she worked as a family physician for Florida Hospital Deland. Previously, she was a family physician and owner of Deland Family Medicine. Earlier in her career, Dr. VanDemark served as Women’s Health Physician and subsequently as Medical Director for Stetson University Student Health Services. Since 2008, Dr. VanDemark has held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine. She is board-certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine and a Fellow of the American Board of Family Medicine, and is a Certified Principal Investigator. Dr. VanDemark earned her doctor of medicine degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. She received a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences and a minor degree in chemistry from Illinois State University. She completed her residency at Halifax Medicine Residency Program in Florida where she was elected and served as Chief Resident.
- Vishal Gupta
Dr Gupta completed both his residency in Internal Medicine and his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Florida, while also earning his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry there. With privileges at Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, FL and a thriving practice in Orange City, Dr Gupta is an active investigator at Avail in a variety of GI trials.
